SSiC - Challenge #143

Hello again ladies.  Its so good to have you here.  Thanks for coming by, enjoy your stay!

Today I have a card for our challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ.  This week the lovely Helen is our hostess.  She chose 1 John 3:18 for our inspiration this week.

"My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."

Helen would like us to use an image showing action, use only an image no the front of our card or make a card that moves.  I thought about this for a long time.  My brain was trying to come up with something amazing.  I like my card, but it does not show action, nor does it move.  I used a sweet image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Helena & Henry.
As I thought more and more about our verse I started thinking about all my "kids".  I have 4 of my own children, but I also have several young people that come to my house, sleep on my couches, watch movies with us, eat my food, drink my milk, jump on the trampoline, help with dishes and laundry and just soak up the love around here.  They all call me mom and I love them like my own children.  They come from different homes and different backgrounds but having a mom that loves on them and takes care of them is new and different.  I pat their heads when I walk by.  I remember which recipes are their favorites and make them when I know they are coming over.  I but their favorite soda.  I just love them.  I don't complain about dirt or noise.  I don't put them down for choices they make.  I just love them.  Now....they are expected to respect our rules and abide by them while they are here, but I love them.  Each one.  And I think about how Jesus loves us.  The way we are.  The word says He loved us while we were yet sinners.  Christ died for us while we were still sinners.  These kids aren't perfect, but I love them for who they are, where they are at.  And by loving them unconditionally I have the opportunity to show the love of Christ to them.  They bless me more than I can ever say and I love each of them.  The image I picked shows that kind of love.  No words are necessary to show how I feel.  Our actions can speak so much louder than our words.  We need to be careful that our actions do line up with what we are professing.  I pray you know that kind of unconditional love from our heavenly Father.
I colored these cuties with my Prismacolor pencils.  The DP were from my stash.  I was hoarding them, but no-one can see this great paper stashed away in my studio so I decided it was time to pull it out.  The doily and beads were from my stash as well.  The sweet glittery flower is by Prima.  I have a great story about that flower.  No-one on my husband's side of the family is artistic except our niece Christa.  She draws AMAZINGLY!!  Like you would not believe!  She also loves to do collage and other paper projects.  When she comes over I usually find something in my studio that I think she needs  :)  So, about a month ago I get a small package in the mail from Chris.  Inside were these flowers.  She wrote me a little note telling me she had been on Amazon and when she saw the flowers she decided I HAD to have them so she bought them for me!  Wasn't that sweet?  This is the first one I have used.  I want to make sure they go on the best projects.

Here's the inside.  I added our verse to the left panel.  I stamped a great scroll on the corners of the writing panel.  As always, all my layers are sewn.

And the back.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Mo's Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

I think that's about it.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Blessings & Hugs

  1. Coming by to visit your blog is always such a blessing to me, Michelle. I love your post today and the picture of your loving home you shared with us. God will bless those children through you, and then He will doubly bless you through them. What a perfect picture of unconditional love. Thanks for sharing that. Your card is amazing...you did an awesome job of coloring. You make me want to get out my prisma pencils and try again. Do you use Gamsol to blend...or just the pencils...are they watercolor? Would love to know a few techniques you use. I've used Copics almost exclusively, but I love this softer look of the pencils you achieved. Just a stunning card and totally delightful post. Blessings on your week, sweetie. Love you to pieces, sister.

  2. My goodness Michelle - this is a wonderful card. Love the coloring. I really enjoyed reading about your daily life. We always had "extra" kids too, a few even went on vacations with us. It was great, I treasure those memories and I know that some of them do too! Have a good week!
