OK I'm on track this week! Last Thursday I told you I was going to post a completed project from my sewing list every Wednesday and today I have another project ready!!
I have some friends who adopted a beautiful baby boy from Ethiopia about 2 1/2 years ago. I started a small needlework piece soon after they came home and it has been stitched for 2 years. Then it sat in my basket. Since my boy has pointed out how long these projects have been sitting around I have been trying to get them done.
I had planned to have this piece framed, I even have a great shop to take it to, but it's not terribly affordable. I think that's why it has sat for so long, but I decided to stop making excuses and get this put together!
I think this piece was also in an issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework, but honestly it's been so long I can't remember. His name is Zadok Rediet (Zadok being a Biblical name and Rediet his Ethiopian name.) They sent out an adoption notice when they came home with him. It had his birthday on it (December 31) but also said "in our arms May, 11, 2010". His Grandma and I decided that would be a great thing to put on here.
I had some fat quarters of quilt fabric that really pulled out the feel of the colors. The outer border is probably my favorite. It has such a safari, wild animal feel to it....kinda like little Zade!! He is a little wild man!! I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that it only took about 3 hours to put this together. It should have been done months ago, but at least I can wrap it up and send it on its way!
Be sure to check back next week to see what project I can check off my list next!
I think that's about it. Thanks for taking a peek!
Blessings & Hugs,
Michelle
