Hello again friends! It's Wednesday and that means I have another project to share with you from the "Master List" in my sewing room/studio.
I have a very dear friend that loves lighthouses. She has a couple very pretty ones in her living room and when I saw a needlework piece in Cross Stitch & Needlework in July 2010 I knew I wanted to make it for her. I purchased the beautiful hand-dyed linen and got started. Then it sat for over 2 years. It's been on my list for quite some time and it is finally done!
I think you can see the variation in color in the sky. That's the gorgeous hand-dyed linen. It adds such depth to the piece. There are a lot of colors in this, which is something I love. The more detailed the better for me. The lighthouse is petite point (meaning its stitched over 1 thread). That used to be easy for me but I have to admit age, the accident and the remains of pink eye made it a challenge. Thank goodness there weren't very many stitches!
The frame is from Hobby Lobby. I think it's perfect for this piece and even better it was on sale. I almost always frame my own pieces, even if I have the ladies at my local needlework shop make the frame for me. It was always a less expensive option. So, I sat this morning and pinned the linen to my matte board and laced up the back. I am really pleased with how this turned out and hope my friend is too. Her birthday is in January so I am way ahead for once!
I think that's about it. Thanks for taking a peek!
Blessings & Hugs,
Michelle
